MUSIC - the legal issues

Where your music comes from

PERFORMERS: be sure the music you use is legally obtained and its use doesn't violate ASCAP laws and rules regarding copyright.   (re: downloading music from the internet)

ASCAP is an enforcement agency for persons or groups owning copyrights or trademarks for music.  ASCAP has nothing to do with EquiTheater per se.

Federal law states anything agricultural is exempt from needing any kind of music licensing, specifically: county/state/4-H fairs.

At any other event where there is a competition between horses (where money is involved) the daily license fee for a use of ASCAP music is $69.    FYI call: 1-800-910-7347
